Between December 2022 AND March 2023, the Australian Government conducted a Targeted Review of modern slavery offences in Divisions 270 and 271 of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth).
We sought public input through an online survey, written submissions and targeted consultations.
We received 30 written submissions as part of the public consultation process.
We received consent to publish 25 of these submissions, with one respondent choosing for their submission to be published anonymously.
Anti-Slavery Australia, Australian Muslim Women's Centre for Human Rights and the Australian Red Cross each provided a written submission, and chose not to have these published. A further 2 individual respondents provided written submissions to the Targeted Review and did not consent for their name or submission to be published.
While we have only published submissions from respondents who gave permission, we have considered all submissions in our analysis.
